About Hamptons Lifeguards

Hi, I'm Cody Stern and am currently studying computer science and entrepreneurship at the University of Alabama ("Roll Tide!"). I have been a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard with CPR certification for the past four years. In addition to certifications in Child Safety and Prevention of Sexual Abuse, my work experience includes working for my local YMCA, as a swim instructor at Emler Swim School and as a lifeguard employee for my local township (Heights Rec Pool) and the Half Moon Bay Condominium Complex in New York.All Hamptons Lifeguards are thoroughly vetted, trained, supervised, and approved by me personally, ensuring that their certifications are up to date, that they have completed all required training, and that they meet our high standards for excellence in customer service and satisfaction.My Origin Story
When I was ten, my best friend and I nearly drowned in a local river.
I was a capable swimmer but not a strong one. On the way to the river, my dad asked my friend if he could swim and he said yes, that he had learned to swim at this very river. There was a strong current that day which prevented our efforts to reach a platform rock in the middle of the river. The current pushed my friend and I out towards the middle of the river and while I was able to stay afloat, my friend was not. In fact, he didn’t even know how to tread water. Seeing the two of us struggling, my dad swam toward us and grabbed me while loudly alerting the lifeguard on duty that my friend required assistance. The lifeguard immediately dove in and saved my friend from drowning. He carried him to the shore where my friend eventually recovered.As a lifeguard, I feel that parents have an obligation to ensure their children become strong swimmers. I have seen too many distracted parents lose track of their kids in the pool and too many kids misrepresenting their ability to swim. Too many floaties come off or become deflated. Too many kids come close to losing their lives. We need to keep children safe. This is OUR obligation as a society. To that end, I have established OVERWATER, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization that provides free swim lessons or swim school tuition to children from underserved communities who can not afford private lessons or swim school tuition.If you support my goals and dreams of creating a world in which kids don't drown in swimming pools because they can't afford to learn to swim, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Overwater below.

WATER/POOL MONITOR

Hamptons Lifeguards now offers Hamptons Event Planners a new service for those who require a certified lifeguard to act as a Water/Pool Monitor for overall safety. This is a popular feature for those hosting events at a property or on a vessel where a pool or other body of water is present but where guests are not swimming.Water/Pool Monitors are ideal for events that take place poolside, beachside or even on the Atlantic Ocean or Long Island Sound such as graduation parties and wedding receptions. Monitors are also essential if you are doing an event on a boat because of the possibility of someone either falling overboard or jumping into the water. They will also enforce the use of Life Vests aboard any water vessel.
